Formed in spring , just as the Libertines were beginning to fall apart, Babyshambles became the main vessel for Pete Doherty's poetic, chaotic rock when he was ousted from the Libertines for his increasing drug use and erratic behavior. Babyshambles released their self-titled debut 7" in April , and settled on the lineup of Doherty, guitarist Patrick Walden, bassist Drew McConnell, and drummer Gemma Clarke by that summer. That fall, things went relatively smoothly for the band, with a sold-out U. But by December, the band had to cancel or halt shows because Doherty was unable to perform; one of these sudden cancellations sparked a riot at the London Astoria. Clarke left the band early in and was replaced with new drummer Adam Ficek.

Babyshambles - Fuck Forever Lyrics
It was released as a single on 15 August and is their most successful single, peaking at 4 on the UK Singles Chart. The song was in danger of becoming a lost single due to its controversial title and lyrics, but it was eventually released and has become the closing number in the band's live sets. The video was directed by Jez Murrell. Most of the promotional video for Babyshambles' second single was filmed on location at Spitalfields City Farm in east London, in June
Throughout his career, Pete Doherty has always been remarkably honest about drawing inspiration from his self-destruction. During his time with the Libertines , his debauchery underscored the band's explosive, teetering-on-the-edge-of-chaos chemistry. But with his post- Libertines group Babyshambles again, the name is up-front about Doherty 's modus operandi , he doesn't just teeter, he jumps right over the edge, and the band's debut album, Down in Albion -- which is also heavily inspired by Doherty 's drug use and troubles with the law -- shows that his music, at the very least, is a hollow shell of what it used to be. The album isn't just shambling, it's a mess. It's clear that no control of any kind was in the Babyshambles camp when Down in Albion was recorded: even more so than on the Libertines ' albums, Mick Jones ' "production" duties seem to consist of just sticking a few microphones into the fray.
